Georginio Wijnaldum’s salary demands are ‘TOO HIGH’ for Saudi Arabia teams… with the midfielder looking for a new club as PSG exit looms
- Wijnaldum is set to leave PSG this summer as Luis Campos looks to thin squad
- He spent last season on loan at Roma but made just 14 appearances due to injury
- The Saudi League are splashing cash but seem reluctant to move for Wijnaldum
Georginio Wijnaldum could be asking for too much money to move to Saudi Arabia, according to a report.
Wijnaldum spent last season on loan in Italy with Jose Mourinho‘s Roma, but will return back to parent club PSG this off-season ahead of the new campaign.
It’s unlikely his future lies with the French champions, however. Director Luis Campos is looking to thin his side’s squad as he once again looks to win the side’s first Champions League title.
Wijnaldum is one of the players likely to leave, with several possible destinations touted, including a return to the Netherland or a potential move to Saudi Arabia.
According to Get French Football News, however, the midfielder is said to be asking for a huge increase on his £8.5million annual salary that he’s on at PSG, which could prove to be a stumbling block in a move to the middle east.

The Saudi League are handing out lucrative contracts to the likes of Karim Benzema but are reluctant to splash out for Wijnaldum
The Saudi Pro League is doing its best to lure some of the most popular players in European football over to Asia, with Cristiano Ronaldo the headline star for the division.
Lionel Messi was approached about a move to the country, with Ngolo Kante topping a list of several Chelsea stars that could head that way.
Mega-money deals are being handed out, with Karim Benzema, who joined Al-Ittihad on a three-year deal worth £86million a season.

Though Wijnaldum wouldn’t earn the same, he is reportedly after a big increase on his salary to move, a deal officials involved in a potential transfer seemingly wouldn’t be keen on handing out.
PSV and Ajax are both said to be interested in taking the former Liverpool midfielder back to his homeland, and, while it’s an option, it’s not Wijnaldum’s preferred destination.
It’s believed that if he’s not to move to Saudi Arabia, he wants to continue to play at one of Europe’s top clubs, though the 32-year-old appears shot on offers right now.
He made just 14 appearances for Roma during his loan spell as he dealt with a serious leg injury, and will be wanting to reboot his career next term.
