Gareth Bale says Lionel Messi will ‘definitely enjoy’ playing in MLS as there is much less pressure to win than in LaLiga.
After leaving Paris Saint-Germain, former Barcelona star Messi is set to sign for David Beckham-owned Inter Miami.
Bale, who played against Messi in LaLiga for Real Madrid, had a short spell in the United States with Los Angeles FC prior to retiring.
Former Wales winger Bale stressed that there is a stark contrast between the consequences of losing a game in LaLiga and doing so in MLS.
According to Bale, if a team loses in MLS then they simply move onto the next game given that there isn’t any risk of relegation.

Bale, who played for Los Angeles FC, says that in the USA teams just move on to the next game
Bale told BT Sport: ‘MLS is a lot more chilled. If you lose at Madrid, it’s like the world’s ended, you get crucified, you feel down, you go home you’re not happy.
‘(In MLS) They kind of accept losing a little bit more, there’s no consequence, you can’t get relegated, you just lose a game you go to the next one. They kind of accept losing a lot better over there.
‘They know how to lose but also every win they celebrate like they’ve won the Championship, so Messi will definitely enjoy it. The travel’s difficult.’
Messi has enjoyed a trophy laden career and will be determined to add more silverware in MLS.
Bale won the MLS Cup in 2022 with LAFC and memorably scored a dramatic late equaliser in the final against Philadelphia Union before his side prevailed on penalties.

Messi, who turns 36 this week, was wanted by Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal but ended up deciding to join Inter Miami instead. There had also been suggestions that he could return to Barcelona.
In a statement with Mundo Deportivo he said ‘I’m not going back to Barça, I’m going to Inter Miami.’
‘I made the decision that I’m going to go to Miami. I still haven’t closed it one hundred percent. I’m missing some things but we decided to continue on the path. If the Barcelona thing didn’t come out, I wanted to leave Europe, get out of the spotlight and think more in my family.’
Messi scored 32 goals in 75 games for PSG having previously found the net 672 times in 778 matches for Barcelona.
