CandH Exclusive: Rice options…Arsenal or West Ham!
Arsenal have backed themselves into a corner big time over the decision to buy Declan Rice which could backfire in a big way.
ClaretandHugh learned from a source close to the club this morning that they have assured both Dec and his father agent Sean that they will buy the player since way back.
As a result that has left the Hammers in a position to demand what they want for the captain knowing the Gooners have to make it happen and that no other club will come near our asking price in the meantime.
The alternatives now are heading towards him either going to Arsenal or, if they can’t make it happen, spending another year at West Ham.
Unlike match winners such as Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish, – 63 goals between them, of which 52 came from the striker – Declan is not a goal scorer and GOALS WIN GAMES. It is those players who demand the big bucks in fees and personal terms.
As a defensive midfielder Declan is an important player but clubs pay the really big money for goals although, despite paying £100m for Grealish, Man City only forked out £45 million for Haaland who had a buy out in his previous deal at Borussia Dortmund.
So West Ham are in fact in an incredibly strong position and we understand the board have told Arsenal their price is an astonishing £110 million plus £10 million extras.
The ball is now totally in the Gooners court given their alleged promises to Team Rice at the start of talks negotiations on their desire to buy the Hammers captain.
Our source said: “As things stand there seem two options and I’d say it’s 90 per cent Arsenal will buy him or he will spend next year at WEST HAM!
