Karren Brady has listed a West Ham moment as her greatest ever professional achievement but it will seriously divide fans.
West Ham fans will never forget it but it’s unlikely the club’s vice-chairman Karren Brady regrets it if new comments are anything to go by.
It was the 25th of July 2016. The day Brady uttered the now immortal words.
Words that are still being shared on social media by disgruntled Hammers fans six years on: ‘The most successful stadium migration in history’.
“Together, we have built a magnificent new home,” Brady proudly trumpeted after West Ham left their beloved, famous old Upton Park for the London Stadium (whufc.com).
“A home that rightly stands alongside the very best in world football and a home that I know you will be every bit as proud of as I am.
“Be in no doubt, we are part of the most successful stadium migration in history.”
‘The most successful stadium migration in history’
It was an extremely bold claim and then some.
Especially considering what has happened since from in-fighting on the terraces and problems with stewards to protests and pitch invasions with discontent over the stadium move at the very heart of the ill-feeling.
One disgruntled fan was infamously tackled to the ground by former West Ham captain turned sporting director Mark Noble.
The ex skipper recently said the stadium move was anything but the most successful stadium migration in history.
There have been big improvements made in the years since, such as squaring off the stands behind the goals.
And it is starting to feel more like home as the years roll by. Winning a first major trophy in 43 years should certainly help with that process too.

But for many West Ham fans it will simply never be home. Those supporters would have preferred Brady, David Sullivan and the sadly passed David Gold to have explored expanding their beloved Boleyn Ground more thoroughly.
Failing that, those fans feel more should be done to take ownership of the new stadium or at least have it reconfigured so the fans are closer to the pitch.
It’s a subject that will always divide opinion among not only West Ham fans but football supporters in general.
Not with the Hammers vice-chair, though.

Brady says West Ham’s success a result of securing London Stadium move
Speaking in an interview with The Telegraph, Brady says securing the former Olympic Stadium for West Ham and the subsequent move there is her biggest ever professional accomplishment.
And she claims West Ham’s recent success under David Moyes has all stemmed from the fact she secured that move.
“Securing the Olympic Stadium as West Ham’s new home in 2013, and we moved in in 2016,” Brady said.
“When we moved in, we dreamed of European nights in front of sell-out crowds and that’s exactly what we’ve achieved.
“We’ve got a 62,500 sold-out capacity. We’re the 14th most valuable football club in the world, the seventh in the Premier League.
“We’ve got the third biggest stadium and a turnover of more than £152 million, so all of those things stemmed from securing that stadium for our future and that’s probably my proudest business achievement.”
