Chelsea have been ‘alerted’ by Harry Kane commissioning the building of a new home only 15 miles from the club’s training ground, according to a report.
The Tottenham striker is out of contract next year and reportedly has no desire to sign a new deal.
This means he will be available on a free transfer after the 2023/24 season, unless a transfer comes to fruition this summer.
A move to Bayern Munich seems to be the most realistic move for Kane if he does leave Spurs. The German champions reportedly had a £60million bid for the England captain rejected earlier this week.
Should Kane stay at Spurs for the upcoming season, he will have his choice of clubs, with Manchester United expected to be front of the queue.
Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have also displayed an interest in recent weeks, while a spectacular switch to London rivals Chelsea was mooted following ex-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival at Stamford Bridge.
Daniel Levy would not entertain a bid from Chelsea, but turning down offers from Bayern could give Kane the chance to reunite with Pochettino next year, in a move that could potentially burn bridges with Spurs, where is the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.
A report from The Telegraph has added some fuel to the fire, with Kane’s plan to move into a home in west London apparently ‘alerting’ Chelsea.
It has been revealed that golf-fanatic ‘Kane has commissioned the building of a sizeable new family home close to Wentworth Golf Club’, which is 15 miles away from the Blues’ Cobham training ground.
The project began ‘some time ago’ and contractors are ‘now close to completion’, though there is no indication Chelsea are planning to make a bid in the coming weeks, though a move could become a possibility if Kane sees out his Spurs contract.
Telegraph journalist Matt Law tweeted saying Spurs are ‘running the risk of Chelsea making a very serious play for Kane’ by letting him see out his contract.
The report gives an insight into the 29-year-old’s current situation, with Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel eager to bring him to Germany.
Kane’s future ‘remains open’, with Spurs insisting Bayern are yet to make an offer, though the German champions are ‘prepared’ to do so.
Ex-Chelsea boss Tuchel will convince Kane to join by telling him he ‘can win the Champions League’ at the Allianz Arena.
A summer move to Germany would hinder the 29-year-old’s hopes of becoming the all-time leading scorer in Premier League history. He is currently on 213, 47 goals behind Alan Shearer.
Interestingly, the report states Kane believes he can play ‘at the highest level until the age of 40’ and thinks he will be able to come back ‘after two years’ to surpass Shearer’s record.
