According to reports, Chelsea are becoming ‘increasingly confident’ that they will be able to sign Man Utd target Moises Caicedo from Brighton.
Mauricio Pochettino has a big job on his hands at Stamford Bridge after Chelsea finished 12th in the Premier League last season. This was despite them spending around £600m on new signings.
One of his priorities is to sort their issues in front of goal. They only scored 38 goals in the Premier League last season and they are now close to signing Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal.
The former Spurs boss is also looking to sign a new midfielder who can form a partnership with Enzo Fernandez and Brighton’s Caicedo has emerged as their preferred target.
The Ecuador international was heavily linked with Arsenal during the January transfer window. The Gunners had a couple of bids rejected for the midfielder and they have since turned their attention to Declan Rice, who is set to join the North London outfit for an initial fee of £105m.
On Thursday morning, it was claimed that Man Utd are ‘prepared’ to offer more for Caicedo than Mason Mount, but they have now agreed a deal with Chelsea for the England international.
This leaves Chelsea at the front of the queue for Caicedo. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the Blues are now planning o go on the ‘attack’ for the Seagulls standout.
Caicedo has ‘already said yes’ to Chelsea and personal terms will ‘not be an issue’ so it is now time for a ‘direct negotiation’ between the two Premier League clubs.

‘The Blues are pushing hard to sign the midfielder, 21, and hope to agree a deal around the £80million mark. It would be structured through a guaranteed £70m supplemented by £10m of add-ons.
‘Chelsea are increasingly confident of securing an agreement with Brighton and completing the signing of Caicedo. The Ecuador international is keen to make the move to Chelsea and has already agreed personal terms with the club.
‘Last week (22 June), Football Insider revealed that an official bid from the Blues is on the way as they look to sell multiple senior stars to make room for incomings.’
Chelsea are seemingly considering several targets, with Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga – who is being linked with Man City and Liverpool – emerging as a potential candidate to replace Mount.
