There’s an exciting update on a West Ham move for a player Newcastle and Spurs reportedly both wanted as talkSPORT make a new Harvey Barnes claim.
West Ham have been heavily linked with a move for flying attacker Harvey Barnes following his relegation with Leicester City.
Both Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur had looked to be a real problem for the Hammers, though, with Ange Postecoglou and Eddie Howe also rumoured to be interested.
Journalist Matt Law had claimed West Ham were leading the race for Barnes, but warned Newcastle and Spurs were also circling.
Then The Guardian stated West Ham boss David Moyes wants to wrap up a deal to sign the 25-year-old England international as soon as the Declan Rice deal was done.

Newcastle and Spurs had also been locked in a two-way battle to sign Barnes’ Leicester teammate James Maddison – a one-time West Ham target himself.
While West Ham edge closer to the British record £105m sale of Rice to Arsenal, focus at Tottenham and Newcastle has shifted away from Barnes and instead to securing Maddison and Sandro Tonali respectively.
Spurs confirmed the £40m capture of Maddison yesterday – inadvertently doing rivals West Ham a big favour in the process.
And Newcastle are closing in on the £55m signing of Italian midfielder Tonali.
Earlier this week The Telegraph doubled down on their claims that West Ham are in pole position to sign Barnes.
Now there’s an exciting update on a West Ham move for the player Newcastle and Spurs reportedly both wanted as talkSPORT make a new Barnes claim.
talkSPORT have close links to Sullivan and Moyes
talkSPORT host Jim White is close with West Ham majority stakeholder David Sullivan and is also a friend of Hammers boss David Moyes.
And it is being claimed by “talkSPORT sources” on White’s show that West Ham are ready to step up their pursuit of Barnes once the Rice move is completed.
In fact the outlet claims Barnes tops a five-player priority list for West Ham in the window. And it states Leicester expect the brilliant winger – who scored 13 goals last season – to depart.
Barnes is one of the most exciting wingers in the Premier League and would be a superb addition.
His pace and finishing would help transform West Ham’s attacking threat. And it would tee up the mouthwatering prospect of the Hammers having Barnes on the left and Jarrod Bowen on the right providing goals and assists.
