Mark Warburton has departed Hammers
Former West Ham coach Mark Warburton has admitted that he and David Moyes frequently fell out on footballing matters.
The pair have parted company apparently on agreeable terms but last summer’s appointment of the coach clearly didn’t work out as he has now explained.
Warburton said they both have different football philosophies on the game and he has admitted to often challenging the manager in his time at West Ham.
He has become the third coach to leave the club during Moyes’ time with West Ham following the departures of Stuart Pearce and Alan Irvine in recent years.
Warburton explained the challenging part for him was that after managing for so long that you are a decision maker and that is no longer the case.
Talking to Sky Sports News he said: I don’t mean that at all in an arrogant fashion – just the fact that you’re used to that process and then suddenly you’re not
He went on to explain his issues with Moyes adding: “I think David and I have different philosophies on the game, which is part of the reason he wanted me to come in. But I think I just found that really challenging.
“And the most important thing to me was friendship in that and I think our friendship would have been in danger if we’d have just carried on with me challenging certain things.
“So we left in a very amicable way. We had a good conversation and they looked after me and anything I can do to help David, help the club, I’ll always do.”
