West Ham United DoF Tim Steidten is set to pounce for a star dubbed the new Vinicius Junior after Newcastle had a bid rejected for prodigy Matheus Franca.
That’s according to a new report from The Daily Mail as new West Ham director of football Tim Steidten gears up to start spending the Declan Rice money by beating Newcastle United to a top talent.
Newcastle appear to be showing serious intent in the market after qualifying for the Champions League.
And West Ham will soon have £105m in their summer transfer window kitty with Rice edging ever closer to joining Arsenal for a British record transfer fee.
West Ham DoF to pounce for star dubbed the new Vinicius Junior after Newcastle bid rejected for prodigy Matheus Franca
West Ham fans who have followed the transfer windows since Eddie Howe’s arrival at Newcastle will know that wherever the Hammers go, the Magpies seem to follow.
At one stage last summer Newcastle’s interest in West Ham’s transfer dealings and targets was described as an ‘obsession’.
But there has been something of a role reversal of late and now West Ham are pushing to beat Newcastle to a seriously exciting attacking midfield talent.

Franca seen as the best player Flamengo have produced since Vini Junior
Brazil Under 20 star Franca is regarded as the best player to graduate from the Flamengo academy to the first team since unplayable Real Madrid attacker Vini Junior – who is best friends with West Ham ace Lucas Paqueta – who also started at Flamengo – and Newcastle hero Bruno Guimaraes.
The 6ft 19-year-old attacking midfield talent already has seven goals in 27 appearances for Flamengo.
Now The Daily Mail claims West Ham DoF Steidten wants to bring Franca to the London Stadium after Newcastle saw a £13.5m bid rejected in January.
Report: Newcastle saw bid rejected but remain keen as Hammers new man eyes move
The report states Newcastle remain interested and want to sign Franca in the summer window – which officially opened for international transfers today (July 1st).
“West Ham have expressed interest in Flamengo midfielder Matheus Franca, who has been a target for Premier League rivals Crystal Palace and Newcastle,” the report states.
“Incoming technical director Tim Steidten will focus on signing new recruits with long-term potential, as the Hammers mull over a number of transfer options.
“Franca is currently in his second senior season at Flamengo, who have previously been so keen to hold onto the player that a £13.5m offer from Newcastle in January was rejected for being too low. Despite this, Newcastle are believed to be keen to renew their advances during the summer window.”
