Moyes takes credit for Rice fee
By Hughie Southon
Let’s be fair to David Moyes!
Months and months ago he stuck a £100 million plus price tag on Declan Rice which not only received the expected widespread publicity but stuck! It was something of a masterstroke.
And within a couple of days or so he will getting something very close to what he said the player was worth which I have to say – despite my high opinion of Dec – is not really the case.
Frankly, I would have thought £75 million for him would have been about right so well done Messrs Moyes and Sullivan for hyping up the scenario to a British transfer record.
£105 million transfer fee a Moyes materstroke
Declan is a very good player with big strong points but he is not a guy who changes games to the extent of say Haaland and Grealish which is presumably why City pulled out and neither Man U or Chelsea became involved.
Had he been the player to which Moyes attached such a fee one would have certainly expected a big club auction whilst in the end only one club came in
I have no doubt Dec will strengthen Arsenal defensively but at £105 million one expects to see game changers and that’s not Dec just yet.
So well done <pyes and Sullivan. Didn’t want to lose him of course but this was great buiness.
