According to the Express, Liverpool target Levi Colwill has long admired Steven Gerrard and even had pictures of the Liverpool legend on his bedroom wall.
The young defender’s future at Chelsea is uncertain, and there have been reports linking him to a potential move to Anfield.
It is stated that Colwill is set to have discussions with Mauricio Pochettino, once he returns from representing England at the U21 European Championship. He intends to seek clarity regarding his role in Pochettino’s plans and is unwilling to serve as a backup option.
The 20-year-old defender may consider his future if he does not receive the desired assurances from Chelsea regarding his role. Liverpool has emerged as a potential destination for Colwill, who previously had loan spells at Brighton and Huddersfield.

The player has expressed admiration for Liverpool’s legendary midfielder Steven Gerrard in a previous interview. He admitted to emulating everything Gerrard did and had posters of him on his bedroom wall.
“Growing up [my idol] was always Steven Gerrard, I would be watching him, he’s a leader. I was just amazed by him, I used to have pictures of him in my room. I was always trying to copy him before I was playing football. I always dressed up as him, I had the same boots. That was it.”
Given this connection, the opportunity to join Jurgen Klopp’s team at Liverpool might be enticing for Colwill. Later this month, the defender will have discussions about his future with Pochettino.
Currently representing England U21s at the European Championship in Georgia, he will return to find out what lies ahead for him at Chelsea.
Upon his return, Colwill will find strong competition for the centre-back positions from established first-team players. The tactical plans of Pochettino remain uncertain, as it is unclear whether he intends to deploy a back four or a back three formation.
This situation leaves Colwill uncertain about his prospects of securing regular playing time. Thiago Silva, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, and Trevoh Chalobah are among the players who are expected to feature prominently for Chelsea in the upcoming season.

Consequently, Colwill faces a challenging task in his quest for consistent starting opportunities at Stamford Bridge. Pochettino may have been closely monitoring his progress during his impressive loan spell at Brighton in the previous season.
Initially finding it difficult to break into Roberto De Zerbi’s side, Colwill managed to feature in 10 of the final 14 Premier League matches, contributing to Brighton’s qualification for the Europa League.
