Former Tottenham Hotspur star Lucas Moura closing in on Saudi Arabian transfer
Brazilian midfielder Lucas Moura seems destined to embark on a new chapter in his career as his contract with Tottenham Hotspur came to an end this summer.
The club, unfortunately, chose not to extend his contract, bringing an end to his memorable six-year spell with the London-based team. Moura’s time at Tottenham has been nothing short of remarkable.
He has consistently showcased his skills and played a pivotal role in the club’s sensational Champions League campaign during the 2018/2019 season. Who could forget his heroic hat trick against Ajax, which propelled Tottenham to the final and etched his name into the club’s history?
However, the previous season posed challenges for Lucas Moura as he grappled with injuries and found himself slipping down the pecking order behind some of Tottenham’s star-studded attacking lineup, including the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, and Richarlison.
According to renowned Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, Moura’s desire was to secure a move to another European club. Regrettably, the offers he received did not come from top-tier leagues or clubs competing for titles.
Consequently, the Brazilian maestro is currently engaged in negotiations with two undisclosed Saudi clubs, both of which have presented significantly more enticing financial packages than their counterparts.
While the identities of these Saudi clubs have not been revealed, Nicola suggests that one of them is a prominent top-four contender in the Saudi Pro League, while the other is a more modest team.
As Moura closes in on his departure, the Tottenham faithful will undoubtedly reflect on the memories he has created. From his crucial goals in Premier League matches to his dazzling displays in the Champions League, his contributions have left an indelible legacy.
