According to The Athletic, Liverpool are reportedly not actively pursuing a move for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.
Manager Jurgen Klopp had identified strengthening the midfield as a top priority for the team following a disappointing season.
The departures of James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after the expiration of their contracts, coupled with uncertainty surrounding the futures of Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson, have created some concerns in the engine room for Liverpool.
However, the club is currently not showing a strong interest in signing Lavia. Liverpool are currently dealing with interest in their club captain Henderson and midfielder Alcantara from clubs in Saudi Arabia.
However, the Reds are keen to keep both players unless they can find affordable replacements. Despite the potential departures, Liverpool have had a strong start to their summer transfer activities by signing Alex Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Liverpool’s midfield options have been bolstered with the return of Stefan Bajcetic from injury and the emergence of Curtis Jones as a key player last season.
Despite speculation linking them to Lavia, who is expected to leave Southampton following their relegation, Liverpool are currently not considering a move for the former Manchester City prospect.
The club deems the asking price too high for a player who is not yet 20 years old and also believes that their squad does not currently require a midfielder with Lavia’s specific skill set.
Lavia is expected to have several suitors, including Arsenal, who are reportedly ready to make a move for him after completing the signing of Declan Rice from West Ham.

Arsenal plans to raise funds through the sale of Granit Xhaka to Bayer Leverkusen and potentially Thomas Partey’s departure as well.
Chelsea are also interested in Lavia and aims to compete with Arsenal for his signature. However, the Blues are prioritising the transfer of Moises Caicedo from Brighton at the moment.
