Inter Milan have accelerated talks for Tottenham Hotspur star Hugo Lloris
Inter Milan have intensified their efforts to secure the services of Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in the past day, signalling their desire to bring the veteran shot-stopper to Italy.
According to the reputable French outlet Foot Mercato, talks between the two clubs have entered an accelerated phase, hinting at the seriousness of Inter Milan’s pursuit. It appears that the catalyst behind this swift action is the imminent departure of their current number-one goalkeeper, Andre Onana.
Manchester United, in turn, have identified Onana as their prime target to replace their long-standing goalkeeper, David De Gea. The Premier League club has been resolute in their quest to find a suitable replacement for the Spanish custodian, and they believe Onana fits the bill.
De Telegraaf has recently reported significant progress in Manchester United’s pursuit of the Inter Milan shot-stopper, with a staggering €55m fee close to being agreed upon. This development has undoubtedly prompted Inter to look at replacements.
Lloris, who has served Tottenham dutifully throughout his illustrious career, has expressed his desire to seek new horizons, suggesting that the Frenchman is ready for a fresh challenge away from his long-time club.
Spurs, recognizing Lloris’ ambitions and considering his below-par performances in the previous season, are reportedly open to selling the experienced goalkeeper. The timing couldn’t be better for Tottenham to cash in on Lloris, as his contract is set to expire next summer.
Guglielmo Vicario, an Italian goalkeeper, has already been acquired by Tottenham as a successor to Lloris. The club’s swift actions in securing Vicario’s services underscore their intention to move forward and make necessary changes to their squad.
While Lloris has been a loyal servant to Tottenham, his advancing age and a season marked by several high-profile errors leading to goals have prompted the club to consider parting ways with him.
