Everton have offered a lucrative contract to Ashley Young following the expiration of his Aston Villa deal, sources have told Football Insider.
Young is weighing up offers from multiple Premier League clubs as well as those overseas.
Toffees boss Sean Dyche is a “huge” admirer of Young, sources say, due to his versatility and experience.
Everton are being forced to rely on loans and free transfers this summer as they drastically cut costs.
On 22 May, Football Insider revealed that the Merseysiders have no money to play with in the current window despite surviving Premier League relegation.
Dyche’s side are operating a sell-to-buy policy in the coming months in which they must offload some of their more valuable assets to generate funds for new signings.
Last week (2 July), Football Insider revealed that the club have told defender Mason Holgate that he is free to find a new club on loan next season in an attempt to get his £72,000-per-week wages off the bill.
Young is one of the names Dyche is looking to bring to Goodison Park.
The 38-year-old’s contract at Villa Park expired this month after two years at the Birmingham club.
The defender returned to Villa ten years after he departed for Man United and made 57 appearances over his two seasons back at the club.
The right-back is now without a club and available as a free agent following the expiration of his deal at Villa.
