Flynn Downes has inadvertently hinted that he will actually still be at West Ham come the start of the 2023/24 season.
West Ham midfielder Flynn Downes joined West Ham from Swansea City last summer for around £12 million (Sky Sports).

His lack of action was truly baffling last season because every time that he did play, he really impressed.
However, judging by his latest remarks, he may well have a bigger role to play under Hammers boss David Moyes next season…
Flynn Downes has just dropped a big hint after report claimed he could leave West Ham this summer
The 24-year-old Hammers midfielder played 80 minutes during our impressive 4-1 friendly win over Boreham Wood last night.
And when speaking to reporters after the match, Downes highlighted how determined he is to start the season better than we did last term, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“I think, last year, we didn’t have the best start to the season. I felt like it was always a little bit of an uphill battle and you can’t do that in the Premier League. This season, we’re putting in the hard work now so we do start well. We want to pick up points early doors and, to do that, we need to have some momentum going into the season. That’s what we’re hoping to do and I’m sure that’s what we’ll do.”
The former Swansea man then went on to discuss the Hammers’ upcoming tour of Australia…
“I can’t wait for Australia. I am dreading the flight a little bit but I can’t wait. I’ve never been before but I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve heard it’s a lovely place and I’m ready to get going.”
That doesn’t sound like someone who is planning on leaving does it?
In fact, I think that it’s a pretty strong hint from the midfielder that he plans on sticking around at the London Stadium.
And I think that’s great news. He is a very good player and if given a run of games, I’m sure that he’ll go on to be a big player for us.
Rather than join Southampton in the summer transfer window, I think Flynn Downes might just stay at West Ham and prove his worth.
