Hammers boss David Moyes needs to sign a new striker this summer, with all of his current forwards being linked with a move away from the London Stadium.
It seems as though the Scot will have his work cut out though, if Diallo is indeed the man that he wants…
Newcastle could now sign another West Ham target with £17m move for Habib Diallo
Ignazio Genuardi reckons that the Toon and the Hammers are set to battle it out for the Strasbourg striker’s signature this summer.
I believe that Diallo is perfectly suited to Premier League football and could be a real hit with either club.
The 28-year-old was in fine form this season. He scored 20 goals in 37 Ligue 1 outings, and has netted 41 goals in 103 career appearances for Strasbourg (Transfermarkt).
His career record for his previous club Metz is very impressive, with 48 goals and 14 assists in 116 games to his name (Transfermarkt).
Diallo can play anywhere along the front-line. And that kind of versatility could prove to be a real bonus for West Ham.
He is great in the air, talented with the ball at his feet, quick along the ground and is a very hard worker.
Habib Diallo is allegedly available for just £17 million as well (L’Equipe) – a fee that would represent very good value for either West Ham or Newcastle.
It remains to be seen which Premier League club actually wins the race for his signature though.
The Toon are already threatening to beat us to Harvey Barnes’ signature. So losing out on Diallo to the Tyneside outfit as well would be another big blow for us.
