Ashley Young can be a useful for signing for Everton.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that the Tofees will benefit from Young’s capture, whilst Aston Villa may regret letting him go.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on Sunday (9 July) that Everton have offered a lucrative contract to Ashley Young following the expiration of his Aston Villa deal.
Everton are being forced to rely on loans and free transfers this summer as they drastically cut costs.
On 22 May, Football Insider revealed that the Merseysiders have no money to play with in the current window despite surviving Premier League relegation.
Young returned to Villa ten years after he departed for Man United and made 57 appearances over his two seasons back at the club.
The right-back is now without a club and available as a free agent following the expiration of his deal at Villa.
With the veteran set for a move to Everton, Agbonlahor believes that Tofees will benefit from signing Young.
“One man’s loss is another’s gain and Everton will get experience alongside a versatile player,” He told Football Insider.
“He didn’t get offered a new deal at Villa, so he could have thrown his toys out of the pram.
“He could’ve seeked a move to the MLS or somewhere else but he hasn’t, he has kept his head down and stayed focused.
“He has managed to keep himself fit over the summer and is about to sign for Everton which shows they still believable he is capable of performing at the highest level.
“I’m surprised Villa did not offer him a new contract as he was one of their better players last season. He can still be a brilliant player for Everton”.
