Everton’s promising ‘ambition’ could be a decisive factor in signing Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that a move to Goodison Park would be an attractive destination for the Italian international.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on Wednesday (13 July) that Everton and Aston Villa are interested in signing Leeds and Italy star Gnonto.
The 19-year-old’s contract at Elland Road runs until 2027 after he joined from FC Zurich last year for a reported fee of just under £4million.
On 24 April, Football Insider revealed that Leeds would be forced to sell the star winger if they were relegated to the Championship.
Amida potential move to Everton, Agbonlahor believes that it is a deal Sean Dyche should look to explore.
“I think he would be a great signing,” He told Football Insider
“He’s young and hungry, I think he is just 19 years of age and he will want to impress.
“it was tough for Gnonto last season, as he was playing in a poor team and he was getting no service as well as getting beat every week, and that makes it hard for a young player to progress.
“if Everton can start off better, then Gnonto is looking at the club thinking that they will have more ambition than just fighting to survive.
“I think it will be a clever signing and money will spent if they can get him for £20million”
