West Ham United might be able to get one over Aston Villa by signing Harvey Barnes this summer.
According to a report from Bild, Aston Villa are prioritising a move to sign Bayer Leverkusen ace Moussa Diaby for €50 million (£43 million) – a move that could leave the door wide open for West Ham to sign Harvey Barnes.

Aston Villa have been linked with a move to sign Barnes (The Sun), but it seems as though Unai Emery is now set on Diaby instead.
So not only could the path be clear for West Ham to bring the Leicester man to the London Stadium, but we could be getting a far better value for money deal than the Villans as well.
Barnes could cost the Hammers just £35 million this summer (talkSPORT) – £8 million less than the 23-year-old French winger.

Aston Villa could sign ‘astonishing’ attacker Moussa Diaby but West Ham may have last laugh
Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs to add more pace and power to his front-line this summer.

Harvey Barnes is an elite left winger and would take West Ham to a whole new level entirely in my opinion.
Barnes is a stunning player, and was once labelled as ‘unbelievable’ by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp (Metro).
Some Hammers fans might look at Aston Villa pushing to sign Diaby with envy. There’s no need to though – Barnes is a better player, has more experience of playing in the Premier League and is cheaper!
West Ham will be getting by far the better deal as far as I’m concerned.
