Ivan Perisic told he is free to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer
According to the latest report from Daily Mail, veteran Ivan Perisic has been told that he is free to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Following a resounding 5-1 victory over Lion City Sailor, the atmosphere in the Tottenham camp has been great. Perisic’s future with the club, though, hangs precariously in the balance with an exit seemingly on the cards.
It is no secret that Ivan Perisic‘s time at Tottenham has been a rollercoaster ride. Arriving last summer on a free transfer from Inter Milan, he was a symbol of optimism during the tenure of the formidable Antonio Conte.
His versatility and skill on the left of the front three or as a left wing-back made him an asset to the team, and he showcased his brilliance in numerous performances. However, a good start quickly dissipated into disappointment.
As the Croatian winger gave standout displays in both of Tottenham’s pre-season fixtures, speculation surrounding his future intensified. However, despite the form shown, it looks like he has been told he can leave the club.
Mail Sport’s Matt Barlow wrote the following about the Croatian veteran’s future
“He has been told he can leave if the right move comes up. Maybe he’s playing for a move because he looks far more effective than he did. Maybe he is happier in this role. Maybe it’s simply the deception of preseason.”
Throughout the previous season, Perisic demonstrated his adaptability and footballing acumen, amassing an impressive 44 appearances across all competitions. While his goal tally might not have been eye-catching, his contribution of 12 assists underlined his invaluable presence on the field.
Whatever the outcome, one thing is certain – Perisic’s performances in pre-season have not gone unnoticed. It looks like he is playing to secure a move away from the club and he might just be successful in doing that.
