According to reports, Serie A giants Inter Milan have submitted their opening bid for Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun and this offer has been rejected.
The young striker has been highly rated throughout his time at Arsenal but he is yet to fully establish himself at the Emirates.
After a spell on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough, he spent last season in Ligue 1 with Reims. He ended the 2022/23 campaign as one of the league’s top scorers as he netted 21 goals in 37 appearances.
Balogun has been featuring for Arsenal during pre-season but he is being heavily linked with a move elsewhere. He will likely have to leave if he wants to play regularly next season as Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah are currently ahead of him in the pecking order.
He was linked with a shock move to Premier League rivals Chelsea at the start of this month but Inter Milan are currently leading the race to sign him.
The Serie A side have switched their attention to Balogun after they ended their pursuit of Romelu Lukaku and FC Inter News are reporting that the Arsenal man is their ‘favourite’ target.
The report claims Inter Milan have ‘offered the same figures’ to Arsenal that they proposed to Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku. Their bid is said to be worth 35 million euros plus five in bonuses (around £34m overall).
This offer was ‘considered too low’ by Arsenal, who are reportedly holding out for around £50m for Balogun this summer. The report points out that West Ham’s Gianluca Scamacca and Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata are being considered as alternatives to the Gunners youngster.

Ex-Arsenal player Alan Smith reckons his former club would be wise to get rid of Balogun this summer.
“It is hard because he’s [Balogun] a few notches down the pecking order now, especially with Havertz coming into the squad,” Smith told Gambling Zone.
“I think the management probably see Nketiah being further ahead of him at the moment, they are similar types of players, and the club must think that Nketiah is a little bit better than Balogun. From Balogun’s point of view, he will be thinking more about how much game time he’s going to get.”
He continued: “He’s a valuable player who can probably fetch £30million plus after the season he had in France. With financial fair play and all the rest of it, that that could help Arsenal a fair bit.”
