Hammers to retain Portakabkins on loan

Havering Council have approved planning permission for West Ham to retain seven rented Portakabkins at Rush Green training ground for the next two years.

In late April, the local planning authority signed off approval for the  ‘Retention of a temporary single-storey Portakabkin complex comprising 7no buildings. All buildings hired for a period of 104 weeks.’

It should be pointed out that these temporary structures are not used for first-team players’ training but are used to house the media centre for press conferences,  a small ticket office and club shop and storage facilities for training equipment.

It does beg the question of why the club didn’t build permanent structures after it turned out the Hammers don’t even own the Portakabkins, which have been a running joke on social media.

We have been told that new technical director Tim Steidten was less than impressed when he toured the Rush Green facility shortly before his appointment.
