According to Claret and Hugh, West Ham have identified as very good backup target, should Edson Alvarez not end up moving to the London Stadium in the summer transfer window.

However there was one line from their report that worries be greatly.
Now, in spite of the fact that West Ham are allegedly very confident of getting a deal for Alvarez done, the fact that top sources inside the club are even talking about backup options is hugely concerning.
The Hammers should have got a deal done for the Mexican quite some time ago.
The 25-year-old is exactly the kind of player we need with Declan Rice now gone, and the fact that we’ve left it this late to sign him really is hugely frustrating.
He’s incredibly strong, doesn’t mind mixing it up with the opposition physically and has very impressive energy and stamina levels.
A recent report claimed Chelsea could hijack our move to sign the Ajax ace now.
And if West Ham do miss out on Alvarez, the owners will only have themselves to blame. Not having the midfielder at the club for our Premier League opener really will be a big blow for us in my opinion.
