Michail Antonio would “give everything” for Everton if he leaves West Ham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hammers striker Frank McAvennie suggested Antonio is not the kind of player that the Toffees need.
The 33-year-old has been heavily linked with an exit from the London Stadium this summer.
Last week (1 August), Football Insider revealed that Sean Dyche’s side could rekindle their interest in the striker following his collapsed move to Saudi Arabia.
Everton could be joined by Wolves and Nottingham Forest, with all three sides having previously held an interest in the forward.
The Jamaica international has entered the final year of his contract with the Hammers and the deal includes the option of a further 12 months.
When asked if Goodison Park would be a good destination for Antonio, McAvennie told Football Insider: “Antonio has to leave.
“Everton need somebody that is going to score a lot of goals and Antonio is not that kind of player. He can score goals but he is not going to be your go-to number nine.
“They are in a worse position than West Ham and creating less chances.
“There is no doubt Antonio would work his socks off wherever he goes.
“Something is not right with him and I think the writing is on the wall that he is going to leave.“
