West Ham do want Chelsea star Ian Maatsen but can only sign him on one condition claims a reliable journalist.
West Ham raided Chelsea for a new left-back last year and speculation of late claims they want to do the same again in this summer transfer window.
The Hammers signed Emerson Palmieri from Chelsea last summer. And now they are being linked with a move for young Blues left-back Ian Maatsen.
According to a report from The Evening Standard, West Ham are well positioned to sign Maatsen.
That’s despite new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino publicly declaring the Dutchman is in his plans on the club’s official website.
West Ham are on the hunt for a new left-back with Aaron Cresswell currently away from the team as Wolves and Forest battle for his signature.

Now The Sun’s Alan Nixon has confirmed David Moyes is rivalling Burnley for Maatsen in this window. But there’s a big catch.
West Ham do want Chelsea star Maatsen but can only sign him on one condition claims the journalist.
Because he may be allowed to leave Chelsea this season – but only on loan, Nixon says in a detailed update on his Patreon page.
West Ham are fighting Burnley – where Maatsen shone on loan in the Championship last season – to sign the Chelsea starlet. And Nixon says the Hammers may be able to win the race by paying a bigger loan fee.
“Hammers are keen on Maatsen as replacement for outgoing Aaron Cresswell and hope to complete the move this week,” Nixon says on his Patreon page.
“Maatsen has impressed in pre season but may be allowed out for a season if he signs an extended contract.
“Burnley have tried to buy Maatsen and would also take him on loan. However Hammers may come up with a bigger rental fee.”
The Athletic previously claimed West Ham could sign Maatsen for around £20 million from London rivals Chelsea.
But it seems a loan is the best the Hammers can hope for if they do push for a decision from the Blues who have over £100m worth of left-backs who were previously ahead of Maatsen in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge is the shape of Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella.
