West Ham have confirmed that Gianluca Scamacca has departed the club and joined Atalanta on a permanent deal worth £27million.
The Serie A side have beaten Inter Milan and Roma to his signature, with both sides having previously shown an interest in the Italian forward.
Atalanta also notably sold their striker Rasmus Hojlund to Manchester United for £72million last week.
But they have acted quickly to secure new reinforcements up top and have signed Scamacca permanently.
West Ham confirmed the news in a club statement, a year after they signed the 24-year-old for £30m from Sassuolo.

The centre-forward struggled to impress at West Ham with a knee injury notably keeping him out of the team
Since then the centre-forward has struggled to impress at the London Stadium and in his 12 months at the club he scored just three times across 16 Premier League appearances before a knee injury ended his season prematurely.
But in a statement released today the Premier League outfit said: ‘West Ham United can confirm that Gianluca Scamacca has departed the Club and joined Atalanta BC.
‘The 24-year-old has moved to the Italian Serie A side on a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee.
‘The centre-forward spent a single season at London Stadium and scored eight goals in 27 appearances, including five in the Hammers’ run to lifting the UEFA Europa Conference League.
‘West Ham United would like to thank Gianluca for his efforts and wish him well for his future career.’
Meanwhile, he was also unveiled by Atalanta in a video posted on YouTube, that saw him arrive at the club’s training ground, sign his new contract and don the club’s blue and black striped kit.
It comes as Atalanta sold former centre-forward Rasmus Hojlund to Manchester United for £72m
In the video, Scamacca says, according to a translation by YouTube: ‘I chose the best club to pick up from where I left off here in Italy and the one fitting my needs like a glove.
‘The director and coach Gasperini have always laid their cards on the table never hiding how much they wanted me and how similar our views were on many topics.’
He added: ‘I’m looking forward to playing at the Gewiss Stadium to finally feel the fans cheering and to celebrate together.’
Atalanta said: ‘Atalanta B.C. would like to extend a warm welcome to Gianluca and wish him the best of luck in his future personal and team endeavours as a Nerazzurro.’
