It was claimed that means a deal for Maguire to join West Ham from the Red Devils ‘has never been closer’.
Having lost the captaincy and finding himself fourth choice centre-back, things already looked bleak for Maguire under Erik ten Hag at Man United.

So when he was booed by his own fans on Sunday after a blunder cost his side a goal, it has made the England defender’s situation at Old Trafford even more untenable.

Hammers increase bid by £10m for England defender
West Ham saw a £20m opening bid for Maguire rejected a couple of weeks ago.
Now Guardian journalist Steinberg – who has strong contacts at West Ham – says a second bid has gone in worth £10m more.
“West Ham have made an improved bid of £30m for Harry Maguire,” Steinberg said.
“Waiting to hear back from Manchester United.”
David Moyes has reportedly made Maguire his prime defensive target and potential new skipper.
Many Man United fans have been calling for Maguire to leave amid the interest from West Ham.
Especially given it has been widely reported Ten Hag needs to raise funds to bring in more signings.
Whether the Red Devils take what looks a very fair offer from the Hammers remains to be seen.
