West Ham United and Man United are ‘close’ to a compromise for a Harry Maguire deal claims a Sky Sports reporter.
West Ham and Manchester United are currently in talks over a transfer for deposed Red Devils captain Harry Maguire.
The Hammers have ramped up their efforts to sign Maguire by submitting an improved £30m bid to Man United last night.
Speculation reignited over the weekend when a reliable journalist – and then a West Ham board confidant – confirmed that the early wheels were in motion on a deal between West Ham and Man United with medical information being exchanged.
Having lost the captaincy and finding himself fourth choice centre-back, things already looked bleak for Maguire under Erik ten Hag at Man United.

It was claimed overnight that Maguire, who has previously allegedly been unsure over a move to West Ham or indeed leaving Old Trafford at all, has had a change of heart.

When bidding for Maguire, West Ham also submitted a £30m offer for Scott McTominay.
That was rejected almost instantly last night. But, significantly, the Maguire bid was not.
Now West Ham and Man United are ‘close’ to a compromise for a Maguire deal claims a Sky Sports reporter.
Speaking on Sky Sports News’ Transfer Show on Tuesday afternoon, senior reporter Melissa Reddy says West Ham are a lot more optimistic about getting a deal done for Maguire.
‘You can see a compromise being easily reached’
And she states that a compromise at around £35m including add-ons is close.
“There’s a lot more optimism on their end (West Ham) of getting a deal for Harry Maguire over the line,” Reddy said.
“Because their £30m bid for the defender is still under consideration by Manchester United.
“The club had valued him at around £40m. But a compromise in the region of £35m could see a transfer happen. So West Ham and Manchester United are not so far off in terms of price point for Maguire…
“The club do not want to be obstructive to him getting more minutes elsewhere. So talks ongoing with West Ham. That is close in terms of add-ons and stuff you can see a compromise of around £35m being easily reached.”
