Hammers would reject Paqueta approach
Manchester City have made Lucas Paqueta a summer target with overnight reports from Brazil suggesting a £70m has been made to West Ham.
There was an initial informal enquiry from City for Paqueta back in June but now it appears that interest has stepped up, but we have been told it is not yet at a stage where there has been a formal bid as reported by Brazilian outlet GloboEsporte
The Brazilian website claims City had already tabled a £70m bid for the Brazilian midfielder but West Ham are expected to reject the offer and demand a higher fee.
West Ham stance is that Paqueta is not for sale and will reject any offer made for their Brazilian play maker.
Paqueta is thought to have a £85m release clause which not thought to be activated until next June.
Earlier this year Lyon said “Olympique Lyonnais confirms the transfer of Brazilian international midfielder, Lucas Paquetá, to English club West Ham for a total amount of €61.63 million, including €18.68 million in bonuses spread over the player’s 5-year contract & 10% sell-on fee”
The total potential fee of €61.63m translates to £52.32m in sterling and the €18.68 translate to £16.16m in pounds. That means the transfer fee paid was £36.16m probably paid in three instalments at just over £12m per year. The £16m of add-ons will most likely be paid based on appearances, European qualification and league position as is the normal case.
