Manchester United have made a midfield signing their next priority with Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat their top target… with Everton’s Amadou Onana deemed too expensive
- Man United will look to sign a midfielder after buying striker Rasmus Hojlund
- Erik ten Hag’s side are keen on a move for £30m midfielder Sofyan Amrabat
- The Red Devils also had Everton’s Amadou Onana on their midfield shortlist
Manchester United have made a midfield signing their next priority following the £72m arrival of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta.
The Danish forward became United’s third summer signing following the £60m arrival of Mason Mount and the £43m move for goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Erik ten Hag‘s side won’t stop there, with the Red Devils looking to sign another midfielder before the end of the window.
Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat is the Red Devils’ top target, in large part due to his excellent displays for Morocco at the World Cup.
Another player on their shortlist was Everton’s Amadou Onana, though ultimately, a move for the 21-year-old Belgium international was deemed too expensive.

Amrabat’s contract at Fiorentina expires next summer, and the 26-year-old is believed to be available for a cut-price £30m.
The Red Devils are hoping to raise funds for further transfers, with the future of a number of their current midfielders under some doubt.
Donny van de Beek is in talk over a potential move to Real Sociedad, West Ham have expressed an interest in Scott McTominay while the likes of Fulham and Galatasaray have been interested in signing Fred.
Amrabat would provide stern competition to United’s current starting midfielders.
He helped Morocco become the first African team to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup, while he was an ever-present for Fiorentina where he made 49 appearances in all competitions.

Manchester United could also look to sign a defender during the summer transfer window.
They have already held talks over a move for Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, while Ten Hag has also considered moves for Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba, Bayer Munich’s Benjamin Pavard and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.
Their interest in a defender comes as former captain Harry Maguire closes in on a £30m move to West Ham.
