Son Heung-min’s special gesture to Tottenham Hotspur fans before Brentford game
Son Heung-min led Tottenham Hotspur out on the field at the Gtech Community Stadium against Brentford for the first time since Harry Kane’s departure.
The South Korean superstar is our new captain. And his leadership qualities were on display just before the kick-off.
A video has emerged on Twitter which shows Son taking the Spurs players to the away fans at Brentford’s home stadium to thank them for their support. The video can be watched here (h/t @StoolFootball or in the embed below:
Son didn’t have the best of games himself. He was hooked in the 75th minute for Ivan Perisic as the Lilywhites failed to score the decisive goal against the Bees.
Son the right choice?
We took the lead in the 11th minute through a brilliant header from Cristian Romero resulting from a James Maddison free kick. Son, in fact, conceded a penalty that allowed Brentford a way back into the game.
They took the lead through Yoanne Wissa in the 36th minute before Emerson Royal’s stunner levelled the scoreline. It was a game to forget for Spurs and Son.
Ange Postecoglou should make sure that the captain is always there on the pitch to lead the time from minute one to 90 — just like Harry Kane did. It’s not like we have a shortage of experienced players.
But it is important for the captain to stay throughout the game, especially in the crucial stages of the game. Son is the perfect choice for the role of skipper. He is talented, humble, experienced and a fan favourite.
