Al-Nassr closing in on Tottenham Hotspur target and Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet
Tottenham Hotspur target Clement Lenglet is closing in on a move to Al-Nassr in the ongoing transfer window from Barcelona, according to The Athletic.
The Saudi Pro League outfit have expressed interest in the centre-back. While they are yet to come to a consensus with the Blaugrana over the payment terms, the France international is likely to make his way to the Middle Eastern country.
This summer, the 28-year-old has been linked with a permanent move to Spurs, as per Spanish outlet Sport. However, the North London side are yet to come to an agreement with the Catalan outfit for the defender.
As things stand, it looks like Al-Nassr are set to pip Tottenham to the signing of Lenglet. The Riyadh-based club have had the centre-back on their radar for some time now.
The French national spent the 2022/23 term on loan at the Lilywhites. He was a key player under Antonio Conte and the subsequent managers. The centre-back started in 24 matches in the Premier League for Spurs.
Barcelona signed Lenglet in the summer of 2018 from Sevilla. Initially, the defender was a key player for the Blaugrana. However, Xavi’s arrival has seen him fall down the pecking order at the Catalan outfit.
The French national has been left out of the La Liga giants’ squad. As things stand, the centre-back has not been registered by the Spanish outfit and they are open to parting ways with him.
At Tottenham, Micky van de Ven has been added to our ranks. The Holland national was handed his debut versus Brentford on 13 August and played alongside Cristian Romero.

Unfortunately, the Argentine picked up an injury in the 2-2 draw. Fitness issues have been a big concern for the former Atalanta star over the years. Therefore, we evidently need to add depth to our backline. But it seems like Lenglet is moving farther away from our grasp.
