Brighton refute Tottenham Hotspur approach for Evan Ferguson
According to renowned journalist Graeme Bailey of 90min, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion star Evan Ferguson in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Spurs suffered a huge blow when star striker Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich earlier this summer. While Richarlison does offer Ange Postecoglou an option, the Brazilian is far from a prolific striker and should struggle to match Kane’s numbers.
With a little under two weeks left before the summer window closes, time is running out for Daniel Levy to add to his roster. One of the names on the list is that of Brighton ace Evan Ferguson.
The 18-year-old arrived at The Amex from Irish side Bohemians in 2021 and is swiftly establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with up front. The 18-year-old has made 30 appearances for the Seagulls across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and assisting four more.
Ferguson is a solid finisher and is clinical more often than not in the box. He is also capable of threading through passes and can link up well with the players around him. This augurs well for Postecoglou given his all-action style of football.
Tottenham reached out to Brighton for their star man but have been knocked back in their efforts. There appears to be little encouragement from the player’s representatives as well with Ferguson likely to stay put in the years to come.
Given that Brighton fleeced Chelsea for a British record fee to sell Moises Caicedo, it is unlikely that we can afford Ferguson for a reasonable price. As long as the youngster continues to perform, both interest and price tag will only increase.
