Leeds fans unfurled a banner mocking wantaway star Wilfried Gnonto during their clash with West Brom on Friday.
With speculation mounting over Gnonto’s future at the club, a group of Leeds fans held up a banner at Elland Road portraying the Italy international as a baby with the words: ‘Waaaah waaaah I not wanna play in the Championship.’
After arriving from Zurich last summer, Gnonto was one of few shining lights during an otherwise dismal campaign for Leeds as the club were unable to avoid suffering relegation from the Premier League.
Despite a number of stars including Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen and Marc Roca having departed the club this summer, Gnonto was said to be part of new boss Daniel Farke‘s plans as the club attempt to make an immediate return to the Premier League.
However, despite featuring in the club’s Championship opener against Cardiff, Gnonto has grown increasingly determined to leave this summer.

The Italy international asked not to be selected as the Whites defeated Shrewsbury Town in the EFL Cup earlier this month, and has not featured in the two following games as the club remain in search of their first league win of the season.
Following the Shrewsbury clash the club released a statement, confirming that they would take disciplinary action against the midfielder.
‘Following those conversations, Willy felt he was unable to play in Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup tie with Shrewsbury Town.
‘Despite training for the last two days, Willy has informed Daniel Farke that he still does not feel able to play this weekend and has not travelled to Birmingham for the game tomorrow.
‘This is now an internal disciplinary matter and the club will make no further comment, other than to reiterate that Willy is not for sale.’
Everton remain the most likely destination for the 19-year-old, with the club retaining their interest in the forward despite signing his Leeds teammate Jack Harrison on a season-long loan.

With his future at Elland Road in doubt, Gnonto has been training alone away from the club’s first-team, and submitted a written transfer request in a bid to force through a move.
However, despite the Toffees submitting an improved offer over £25m including bonuses and a sell-on clause, their bid was again rejected.
Gnonto has four years remaining on his current deal, and the club remain steadfast that he will not depart this summer.
