Brentford expect offers for Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United target Ivan Toney offers in January
Premier League rivals Brentford expect offers for Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United target Ivan Toney in January, according to The Times.
In the previous campaign, the striker was one of the best attackers in the Premier League. Subsequently, he was expected to leave this summer. However, the English national received a ban back in May for breaching gambling rules.
As a result, the 27-year-old will only be able to return to action in January once his eight-month suspension ends. To that end, the Bees are braced to receive bids for him in the next transfer window.
Thomas Frank does not want to lose Toney. However, Brentford are resigned to the fact that he will part ways with the club in January. But the Bees have placed a £80 million valuation on the striker’s head.
Tottenham have been linked with a move for the English national. This summer, the North London side have lost their talisman, Harry Kane, who joined Bayern Munich. Therefore, we could do with additions up front.
However, Man United also have Toney on their radar, as per Football Transfers (h/t Manchester Evening News). Thus, the North London side could arguably face competition from the Red Devils.
Erik ten Hag has already added Rasmus Hojlund to his ranks this summer. But the Danish national has not featured yet for them due to injuries. Anthony Martial has also had his fair share of fitness issues in the last year.
When Tottenham took on the Old Trafford side on 19 August at home, both teams showed deficiencies in the number nine position. But the North London side came out as 2-0 winners.
