Everton are ready to follow the signing of Udinese striker Beto with a goalscoring winger in the final days of the window, sources have told Football Insider.
Demarai Gray is edging closer to a move to Saudi Arabia ahead of the transfer deadline on Friday (1 September).
And Everton are keen to replace Gray, 27, with a threatening wide player despite already adding Jack Harrison and Arnaut Danjuma on loan deals this summer.
The announcement of Beto as a new Toffees player is imminent with the player undergoing a medical on Merseyside on Sunday (27 August).
Football Insider revealed on Sunday that Udinese have given the Portuguese star permission to head to England after agreeing a fee of £30million including add-ons for the forward.
Goals have been a huge problem for Sean Dyche’s side in the first three games of the 2023-24 campaign.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Dwight McNeil, Harrison and Gray have struggled for fitness in the first part of the new season.
Everton are yet to score in three Premier League games and sit bottom of the table with zero points.
Gray’s departure would come as a big blow for Dyche after he helped the Toffees avoid relegation last term by scoring six goals.
As such, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that signing a replacement goalscorer is on the agenda for Everton if the former Leicester man leaves Goodison Park before the deadline.
Wilfried Gnonto has been on the wanted list for the Toffees and even went on strike at Leeds United earlier this month in a bid to force a move.
However, the Italy international has since returned to action for the Whites and scored in their 4-3 win over Ipswich on Saturday (26 August).
