EFL CUP
Palace were away in the second round of the competition last season, but the shorter journey to Oxford ended in a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Odsonne Edouard and Luka Milivojevic. In contrast, Plymouth exited in the first round after a 2-0 home defeat to Peterborough United.
The hosts are into the second round courtesy of a first round victory over Leyton Orient. They head into the cup tie off the back of a late defeat at Birmingham City at the weekend.

MORGAN WHITTAKER
FORMER CLUBS – Derby County, Swansea City, Lincoln City (loan)
The 22 year old striker moved to Home Park on loan in 2022 while at Swansea City and after a successful period at the club, he was signed permanently. Whittaker has represented England at several youth levels and has scored 10 goals for the club in almost 30 appearances to date.
KEY CLASH
TYRICK MITCHELL v BALI MUMBA
Should these two end up being selected to start for this match, this will be an interesting battle. Mitchell pocketed Bukayo Saka a week ago while the Plymouth winger has performed well for Argyle so far this season.

TEB PREDICTION
As with any cup tie in its infancy, it is difficult to predict what team selections the two managers make and whether a ‘concentrate on the league’ approach is adopted. It would be good for Palace to focus on this competition as it could prove prove fruitful but this is no easy tie. The hosts had an excellent campaign last time out, securing promotion to the Championship where they are currently finding their feet. With not a huge amount of choice in terms of selection available to Roy Hodgson at the moment, we are hoping for a relatively strong line up that will see the Eagles safely through to the third round.
FINAL SCORE: 2-1 to Palace
