Manchester United have made a number of summer signings, and two of them look set to make their debuts against Arsenal this weekend.
Rasmus Hojlund joined United earlier in the window, but he wasn’t fit to feature in the early weeks of the Premier League campaign. The striker is now fit, and reportedly he could make his debut against Arsenal.
Erik Ten Hag also claimed Sergio Reguilon would be available for the Arsenal game, despite the fact that Manchester United hadn’t yet announced the move for the left-back.
The reason for the uncertainty around Reguilon relates to the Premier League rules about registering players. If you want to include a player in your matchday squad, they have to be registered by midday on the final working day before the game.
Assuming Manchester United got all the paperwork through before midday on Friday, Reguilon should be available to play.
However, the situation doesn’t look so promising for Sofyan Amrabat, whose deal to join United was only agreed in the early hours of Friday afternoon.
It seems United hadn’t even completed negotiations by midday, let alone fully registering the player.
Manchester United will also be without Raphael Varane, with reports that the defender will be out for a few weeks and will definitely miss the match against Arsenal.
Luke Shaw will be absent as well, as he recently suffered a muscular injury and will be sidelined for an extended period.
The other expected key absentee is summer signing Mason Mount, who will reportedly be out until after the international break at least.
