Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero is fit to feature for Argentina vs Bolivia
According to football.london, Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a major boost regarding the fitness of their star defender Cristian Romero.
The centre-back suffered a calf injury while on international duty with Argentina and was considered a doubt for tonight’s game against Bolivia. However, Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has now confirmed that the player is in contention to feature on the night.
Romero played the 1-0 win over Ecuador and is a star player for club and country. He has largely overshadowed compatriot Lisandro Martinez and is arguably the best in his position on current form.
At 25, Romero is entering his prime and continues to go from strength to strength at Tottenham. Strong in the air and a no-nonsense approach to tackling, the centre-back is well known for his uncompromising style of defending.
While Argentina would be glad to welcome Romero back, we rather he is rested against Bolivia. The Premier League is set to return this weekend and we rather he is not unnecessarily risked against Bolivia, especially in the high altitude game at La Paz.
The venue is famous for extracting more energy out of players and as a non native, Romero is likely to be adversely impacted at least relatively to the home players. Given his injury concern, it makes little sense to risk him.
Tottenham face Sheffield United at home this Saturday. Having taken 10 points from the first four games, they will be keen to keep the good run going.

Romero has formed a formidable defensive partnership with Micky Van de Ven at Tottenham. Romero has also thrived in a leadership role at Tottenham following Harry Kane’s exit. Having him return to full fitness is a major priority for us going forward.
