This weekend the Eagles head up to Villa. Following a very strong second half of last season, many were tipping Unai Emery’s army to do something really special this year.
To find out how Villa fans are feeling, I caught up with Dave B from the VillaYamYam.
TEB – So Dave, what’s it like as a Villa fan at the moment? From afar it looks pretty exciting, a very tactically astute manager with a track record of success particularly in Europe / cup competitions and some new / exciting players?
DB – Being a Villa fan right now feels like the glory days under Martin O’Neil. Everyone knows their part and the game they need to play from one game to the next. Emery and Monchi made some good signings during the window and no doubt will add more if needed.
TEB – What’s the ambition for the season? Is it all about success in Europe?
DB – Europe has to be the top priority. We have a way better squad than West Ham’s last season so Emery will no doubt think we can go all the way. So top 10, decent run in the cups and win in Europe! Not much to ask for…
TEB – Who’s been the early season star? Who is likely to be the main man come the end of the season?
DB – Diaby has hit the ground running and Torres looks a decent upgrade as well!
TEB – How are you likely to line up?
DB – I don’t think we’ll see much different to recent games.
TEB – What’s your view on Palace this season?
DB – Palace are in good hands under Roy.
TEB – If I gave you a magic wand and said you could have one Palace player line-up for you, who would you pick?
DB – Eze for me looks the real deal
TEB – Prediction for the game?
DB – I’m going 3-1 only due to the injuries Palace have and the home advantage.
TEB – Who’s the pantomime baddie for Villa fans right now?
DB – I can’t stand Fernandes, the little rat
