Liverpool are said to be in advanced talks to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie with the Reds looking to bolster their backline.
Jurgen Klopp prioritised strengthening his midfield roster in this summer’s transfer window by bringing in four central midfielders but the Liverpool manager will be tasked to dip into the market for a new centre-back sooner rather than later.
According to a report from the Ecuadorian outlet Marca90 ( via football365), it is claimed that talks between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen have reached an advanced stage with Hincapie expected to cost his suitors a £48 million fee.
The Anfield camp are on the search for a long-term replacement for 32-year-old Virgil van Dijk with Joel Matip and Joe Gomez failing to impress Klopp as the former struggles with inconsistent form and recurring injury troubles.
Ibrahima Konate has proven to be a reliable presence in the Liverpool backline, however, the Frenchman has struggled for fitness so far this season which could convince Klopp to move in for the 21-year-old Hincapie.
