Gary Neville has praised Manchester United for producing their ‘best’ performance of the season in Tuesday’s 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Crystal Palace.
United secured back-to-back wins for the first time this season as goals from Alejandro Garnacho, Casemiro and Anthony Martial sealed victory against Roy Hodgson‘s side.
Erik ten Hag rang the changes for the cup clash, handing Harry Maguire his first start of the season and summer recruit Sofyan Amrabat his full debut at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, Mason Mount and Raphael Varane also made impressive returns from injury in the one-sided knockout clash against a weak Palace team.
Both sides will meet again in the Premier League on Saturday with further wholesale changes expected to be made for the top-flight encounter.

Neville has justifiably been critical of United’s performances so far this season that has seen his former side slump to embarrassing defeats against Spurs, Arsenal, and Brighton, however, the 48-year-old dished out praise on Tuesday.
Tweeting while his Salford City side were being hammered by Burnley in their third round clash, Neville stated: ‘The best United have played all season.’
United supporters appeared to largely agree with the former Red Devil who lifted eight Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies during his celebrated career at the club.

One response to Neville’s initial post read: ‘Absolute best, United in total control so far. The young lads setting the pace here, a wonderful performance no doubt!’
Another optimistically added: ‘We play with this formation, it would be difficult for any club to beat us.’
However, a third comment somewhat disagreed, stating: ‘Amrabat was desperately needed. But I don’t agree. I think first half v spurs away and arsenal first half away were just as good.’
Neville and United supporters will be hoping to see a repeat of Tuesday’s dominance when Palace travel to Manchester again in the Premier League at the weekend.
