Simon Collings reports that Bukayo Saka and Thomas Partey were in training on Monday, following Saka’s injury scare at the weekend and Partey’s long-term absence.
Saka had raised concerns after limping off against AFC Bournemouth over the weekend, but he was back in training immediately ahead of the game against RC Lens on Tuesday.
Collings adds that only Gabriel Martinelli and Jurrien Timber are still absent from training, bringing Arsenal’s injury list down to just two players.
That’s a sharp decrease from just last week, when eight Arsenal players were absent from training.
Leandro Trossard, Declan Rice, William Saliba, Fabio Vieira, and Saka were all missing during the week ahead of the Bournemouth game, but all five of them ended up returning in time to make the matchday squad on Saturday.
Given Saka then limped off again in the Bournemouth game, it seemed like he might be set for some time on the sidelines. But his immediate return to training suggests that’s not the case.
Even Martinelli may still return this week, with recent reports suggesting he’s expected to be back from his hamstring injury in time to face Manchester City on Sunday.
If that’s the case, and if the Lens game passes without incident, the Gunners would go into the top-of-the-table clash with only Timber missing.
