happy december everyone —
Last week I asked you all to vote for your favourite pie.
Well, here we are. I wasn’t going to let the poll slide without me reporting on the results. And I have to say, we have an unlikely winner.
———
Your champion pie: Shepherd’s/Peasant’s Pie (20%. 69 votes):
I’m a little surprised here. Honestly. And this is coming from someone who loves shepherd’s pie. My dad used to make it for me and my siblings as a kid, so it brings back fond memories.
I’ts a delicious pie, it really is. And, judging from you all, a better savoury pie than any steak-based pie (despite the rabble-rousers in the commentariat).
Please – share your favourite thingsd about this pie!!
Second place: Apple Pie (15%, 50 votes)
It’s a classic American pie. And a classic sweet British pie. I believe the apple pie suffered from the competition it faces from the sweet pies. There were fewer serious savoury pies to challenge the champion.
But this is a wonderful pie. I applaud those who enjoy apple pies.
Third Place: Pecan Pie (11%, 37 votes)
If I participated in the voting, I would have voted for this pie. I love pecan pie. I love the texture, the nutty pecans on top of that gooey custard below. Oh, and that crust. It’s so delicious.
For those of you who chose the pecan pies, you are in good company.
I also really love mince pie.
Dark horses: Key Lime Pie (7%, 23 votes), Strawberry Rhubarb Pie (4%, 15 votes)
Not gonna lie, I’m a little surprised here. I know there’s a key lime pie contingent in the world. But I didn’t think such a contingent existed in Carty Free World. And I did NOT expect so many strawberry rhubarb pie lovers.
Congratulations on this distinction, you tart (the sensation, not the pie-adjacent) purveyors.
Please abide by the honour code: Eel Pie (1 vote), Fish Pie (2 votes)
I have to believe the one and two people who voted for these two respective pies were just a couple of wisecrackin’ so-and-so’s. These pies are DISGUSTING.
So I demand of you: Unmask yourself!! Why did you vote for these pies? Are they truly the best ones??
