How quickly can Bayern Munich move on from the sting of a 3-1 road defeat at Stuttgart? It will have to be fast, as the Bavarians travel next to Spain for the conclusion of its Champions League semifinals tie against Real Madrid on Wednesday.
One of the players attempting to exemplify Bayern’s forward-thinking approach? Forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who started and went the distance for Bayern and enjoyed a solid chance or two — but couldn’t hit paydirt.
“We are of course disappointed, but we have to keep our heads up. Starting tomorrow the focus will be on Wednesday,” said Choupo-Moting after the game (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “We believe in ourselves and know what qualities we have. When we get chances, we have to take them.”
It has been a frustrating season for the Cameroonian international. A year after rescuing Bayern’s fortunes and providing the goals in Robert Lewandowski’s absence, the 35-year-old has taken a backseat to Harry Kane — finding minutes hard to come by, and often playing in the No. 10 role instead of leading the line when he does get a chance to get on the field.
As a result, Choupo only has two goals and two assists in the Bundesliga this season to date. But he still may get his chance to make an impact before it is all said and done.
