Conor Coady left out after good performances, again Enzo Maresca doing his moves to find some sort of formula, who knows what he was thinking about, it did not work as Enzoball went into the wall.
The tinkering of Enzo and his ideas are far from clear and not to understand, sometimes he gets it right other times it all ends in a vulcano of disaster, this was such a day.
The fact that the stadium was packed and ready for a party, made it strange to see moves done, showing lack of respect and in a way not understand the importance of how you secure a win or at least a draw in this type of game. The challenge of getting to 100 points looked far from an important, when you do what you do.
This team and squad lacks the quality and belief and maybe respect towards the fans of this football club, as they are not able, or do not care enough, to get such a result over the line at home against a team struggling for relegation. The game in itself had no impact for Leicester, but a major one for Blackburn, that also showed on the field.
Jamie Vardy had his early chance first half to score, but he lifted the ball out on the side instead of in the goal, when coming alone with the Blackburn goalkeeper.
Of course giving certain players minutes towards the end, makes some sort of sence, but then you might be leaving a plan of winning. Marc Albrighton came on early second half and being out for so long and not being played, his farewell became a disaster instead of a good and special goodbye. A nice guesture from Enzo, but also a very strange move, when you haven’t used this player for months. Kelechi Iheanacho, Callum Doyle, Yunus Akgun and Kasey McAteer were also given minutes as Leicester stumbled against a low sitting Blackburn team, with a proven goalscorer up front again showing his edge. Sammy Szmodics (28) is a special man for Blackburn, taking his total of goals to 27, after two more today on counter attacking situations, being able to have a cool head when others got hotter and hotter.
Before the two Blackburn goals, Leicester had their opportunities, with Harry Winks possibly the biggest one, as Blackburn goalkeeper Aynsley Pears pushed the ball into the bar and over. Winks looked far from composed when he made his shot, clearly again having nerves as his shot was a bad one from such a close range.
Marc Albrighton and Kasey McAteer made a bit of difference from the flank when they came on and pushed balls into the penalty area, but the delivery was far from accurate.
A very dissapointing game, again showing how far away this project is from top quality, going from the highest mountains down to the deepest sea, not really understanding how that is possible, but we still, of course, enjoyed the celebrations and are glad Leicester are back up in the best party.
Well done and mission completed, but a day like today should be dealt with in a much proper way and stumbles like this makes everyone worried and concerned, instead of happy and glad, as we just have to overlook the 90 minutes as it was one of the worst performances from a Leicester team this season.
- Positives
- Creating enough chances to win this football game
- Giving minutes to five subs, also putting on Marc Albrighton early on, great guesture
- Negatives
- Jamie Vardy missing his massive chance first half
- Not having more power and a better plan to tear down Blackburn
- Defensively just going into pieces late on
- Again dropping Conor Coady, he should be in the team
- Harry Winks, not creative enough and missing that special edge to put games to bed
- Mavididi and Fatawu not really focused
- The use of Hamza Choudhury and Ricardo Pereira, where did that come from
- Letting in two sloppy goals
- The manager and players chosen, not turning up for this game that should have seen Leiceter finish in style, reaching that 100 points tally
- Again not using 75% of possession to anything
