Man United are working to find a buyer for Casemiro this summer, in an attempt to clear his wages off the books.
Manchester United have long had a squad filled up with overpaid players. It has all been part and parcel of the Glazer regime.
With INEOS now in charge, it’s about wiping the slate clean and starting again. Among the first orders of business is to free up some space in terms of weekly wages. This squad is jam-packed with footballers who are earning far too much money.
It pains me to say it, but suddenly, Casemiro falls into that bracket now. It has been a truly shocking season for the man from Brazil. It all came to a head against Crystal Palace last night, putting in another abject performance during the Reds’ 4-0 loss. We drafted up an article on why Casemiro simply has to be sold mid-game.
Now, TEAMtalk have provided an update on Casemiro’s future – and it’s good news for those who want the ex-Real Madrid man to depart.
According to their latest information, United are ‘trying to find a buyer’ for the £350k-a-week star, with the player apparently ‘open’ to taking on a new challenge.
With a contract running until 2026, United will be desperate to sell Casemiro permanently, preferably in a deal where they are not subsidising his wages until the contract runs out.
Casemiro was offered to Al Nassr in January, though he has since become a ‘top target’ for the whole Saudi Pro League.
Honestly, Saudi Arabia is probably the only realistic destination for Casemiro, so it all comes down to whether the midfielder fancies a move to that part of the world. If not, United could be stuck with him for the next couple of years.
Hopefully, we see more positive movement on this potential exit as we edge closer and closer to the summer window.
