Not just yet. Bayern Munich fell once again in the Bundesliga this season, this time in a comprehensive 3-1 defeat on the road at VfB Stuttgart.
From a Bayern perspective, the result matters little for this season. For the next, however, it is a reminder that not only Bayer Leverkusen who will challenge for Bundesliga dominance.
The emphatic display — Bayern was outshot over 2-to-1, and 3-1 for shots on target, while conceding 61% possession — was a showcase for Stuttgart’s impressive talent this season. From head coach Sebastian Hoeneß — maybe a Bayern candidate in the future? — to Germany national team attackers Chris Führich and Deniz Undav, the Swabians look well set up to compete again.
