Jamie Vardy has been as valuable this season as he has been almost every season playing for Leicester, doing the job in the end needed to get this team over the line, yet again.
All troubles, all different managers, all different approaches, different type of play, but still Jamie Vardy is Jamie Vardy and his contribution in front of goal is one not easy to replace.
He will turn 38 during next season, but he has no intention of hanging up his boots, because his love for football is one that keeps him going and if he is not playing for Leicester City, Fleetwood Town, Halifax Town or Stocksbridge Park Steels, he is in it for the love of the game, and might continue in playing for fun somewhere else.
He is not a broiler of football, he fought hard with natural ability and a street smart approach, being in there for scoring goals, doing his work as he has always done, that is a fact, chasing balls and going into pockets as he has a certain skill to be sniffing up a goalchance when others are falling a sleep.
A grand group of Scandinavian fans has flewn in for the game today and all had a grand evening yesterday at San Carlo in the heart of the Leicester city centre. They are loving it all as they are there to watch what could be Jamie Vardy’s last game for the club.
Hopefully the Jamie Vardy TIFO will be well be fantastic and hopefully this is not the last farewell, we surely believe and hope he will also be around next season, but the Premier League is a very different life, it is also a massive step up, as we have seen for The Blades, The Hatters and The Clarets this season, all being bottom of the table and Sheffield United allready relegated. We are not certain if a 38 year old will be the answer to look for when playing in Premier League.
A statue should of course be made, but not yet, not before he retires as it would look a bit strange for a player to have statue outside a stadium if he continues to play for another club, surely strange, but we believe this will be handled in the best way possible when the time is correct.
The major question is what is the alternative, Tom Cannon or Patson Daka, no not really, not at Premier League level, so to find a player with the same goal ratio as Jamie Vardy is not possible at a reasonable price. Leicester needs to look for a player for a reasonable price that can adapt and progress alongside Jamie Vardy, maybe that player is Tom Cannon, but surely at this point he looks far from it. He has a potential, but with almost no play at Premier League level, he needs time to find this level. Patson Daka as in his chances this season not shone as we would have expected, getting so many opportunities from his manager.
But anyway, if this is the last game of his Leicester career, we will all be sad, hopefully we will see him again next season, hopefully, but still so much to figure out for Enzo Maresca, it will not be the easiest.
